I am having problems publishing meetings on the 12 step meeting list plugin. I fill out the information on the meeting and publish the meeting, and it does not publish under my Meetings tab. I have gotten the URL linked to my meeting menu and one meeting does come up when I change the drop-down box to Sunday. However, when I try and add a new meeting, it says it is published, but then when I look at my meetings, it still says it’s a Draft. For some reason, I am having difficulty adding new meetings and hitting publish and actually having them published..I go and look at my live site through WordPress and hit the meetings menu, but only one has showed up, the other meeting does not register. I would like to use this application to connect to the Meeting Guide app, but for some reason, I am having difficulty adding new meetings and getting them to show up on the interface on my Meetings page. Some sort of publishing issue perhaps?

    Hi @benc1973,

The most common issue I’ve seen when people are having this problem relates to the address they’re trying to use. Confirm the address you’re trying to use (what is it?) through maps.google.com and copy & paste that to the address field in the plugin.

Also, when I tried looking at the one meeting you have published, the map didn’t display correctly. Did you add a MapBox or Google Maps API key under “Import & Settings”?

Yes, I got an API key to use Google Maps. The lady at Bluehost said that the maps might not be coming up because I am using a temporary domain to build the sight. I looked at the “Imports & Settings” and the key is in there.

My biggest problem is why I can’t add a new meeting and publish it, and have it shown that it was published. It just will not publish when I add in the information for a new meeting. When I hit the publish button, it spins, but then the publish button appears again, rather than an Update button. I go to my meetings, it says draft. I have now idea. We purchased support from Bluehost, but I called several times and no one really knew why it didn’t work. I know Central offices and supposedly upload .csv formats, but I was really hoping the 12-step meeting app would allow me to just type and edit the meetings from the plugin. I guess I will call for support sometime tomorrow, they actually take over the screen, but I had no luck today.

I’m confident the plugin will work. We have a lot of people using it successfully today.

Again, the most common problem we have faced when people do have issues getting meetings to publish is the address. If you send me the address you’re trying to use, I’ll test it on my system which should tell us if it is a problem with the address or a problem with the hosting platform or configuration.

Thank you for your suggestions. I have put in an address in the text box of our meeting location. I used Google maps to put in one and then tried to copy the address of the meeting that actually did post. I must have a glitch in my plugin, when I enter the meeting information, the publish button grays out on me. My hosting company did not seem to know the answers. I got an API key for Google maps, and they believed my temporary domain may not be loading the maps correctly. I know that our website: southwesternindianaaa.org is up and running through another host, GoDaddy. Within that site, I did use Google maps as links under the clubs menu and it allowed users to click and it took them to a page showing a Google map of our location. As of now, I’m wondering if I should deactivate and delete the 12 step meeting list on WordPress and try reinstalling it. I have tried to add meetings this morning, checking the address, and so forth. I am using a Macbook Pro and Google Chrome, and hoping that it is just some technicality on my end.

I deleted the Google maps API key under settings and imports, and it actually let me add meetings! I do not know why the Google maps API was conflicting with me publishing meetings, but it may be that the temporary domain I am using and the Google maps was giving me errors because I am still building the site. I would like a map to load up, but it is more important that I list all our meetings, then possible see later if Google Maps will work? Or perhaps use Mapbox?

I’m glad you got it to work. I think trying Mapbox for displaying meetings is generally a good idea.

I have no idea why there may have been a conflict between your API key and the plugin’s address look up feature. If your API key is locked down in Google’s console, that could be why you’re seeing weirdness. If it is, make sure it is open to the regular IP address you have for your website.

Sounds like the basic issue is resolved?

Yes, it seems like I can move forward, I will visit your feedback again later, but yeah, it was a little weird, but it will work out, Thanks so much for triggering a solution.

Great! Don’t hesitate to open another issue if you have other troubles.
