Unable to Close chat window
-
Following upgrade to current version 8.1.0, chat users are unable to close the chat window that pops-up inviting them to start a chat. This occurs whether browsing on desktop or mobile, and on all pages tested on IE and Chrome. We’ve had to disable the plug-in until this is fixed.

Sorry to hear that. Could you provide more info on what steps we need to follow to reproduce this?
Hi, thanks for the response. This occurs with the “Auto Pop-up” feature enabled in the chat box settings menu. The chat box will pop-up requesting username / email but can’t be closed again, the user only has the option to proceed with the chat. If the Auto Pop Up feature is disabled, then even if the user clicks on the chat bubble icon to initiate a chat, nothing happens – In this scenario it also seems that the page is hanging as the product image from woo doesn’t download. We’re on WP 5.2.4 with Woo and Styleshop theme.
Thanks, we’ll look into it and see if we can get this fixed right away. I’ll keep you posted.
Hi there,
I’ve just tried this with both a fresh installation and an upgraded installation of WP-Live Chat. I’ve tried it on Chrome, Firefox and Edge.
When AutoPopUp is enabled: You’re able to minimize the pop up dialog by clicking on the chatbox’s X icon. I’m not seeing a problem here to be honest…
Could you take a look at your Live Chat > Settings > Chat Box > Icon/Picture/Logo as these may be incorrectly set and may be causing some confusion? Also if you’re testing the plugin with the same browser, ensure you clear your cache both on the agent and customer side. Additionally, during your tests, please separate the agent and customer into 2 different browsers as there is some shared data that may cause issues if both are opened on the same PC.
Please try the above and let me know if there’s any change.
Thanks for your suggestions. The icons / images are all set up correctly in the settings – there is no confusion here. With auto pop-up disabled, the facebook and twitter icons are also displayed and open links as expected. But clicking on the chat icon, the mouse changes from an arrow pointer to a hand, but does not open the chat dialogue. Woocommerce is hanging as the image of the product is not loading. This doesn’t happen with the plug-in deactivated! With auto pop-up enabled the “starting chat” box pops-up, but the x alongside to close the chat doesn’t work in the same manner. This includes testing with different browsers, including incognito browsing and also follows clearing cache. Everything worked prior to this update.

pro-tip; you can disable Autoptimize on a per-request basis by adding
?ao_noptimize=1to the URL.try that and if the problem is not there at that point, some autoptimize (re-)configuration might be needed to fix this. there are troubleshooting tips and info on how to exclude in the AO FAQ.
hope this helps debugging,
frank (ao dev)This issue has already been fixed. Please re-install latest version 8.1.0, let us know! Sorry for the trouble.
Thanks for your lightning quick response. I can confirm that the update has fixed the issue. I would ask that in future any update, however minor is reflected by an incremental build number. It saves a lot of confusion – no matter how quickly you push through a change 🙂
You’re absolutely right, we already had fixes for 8.1.1 but we decided to push this one immediately for new users and existing users waiting for the update.
Next updates will follow normal behavior with version change and plugin dashboard notification.
Thanks for your feedback!
