Howdy –
Can you provide a link to the post from the Publicize example that you shared above?
Another example of the Publicize module: https://twitter.com/BlogAlmendron/status/1156840069136879616
Link to image instead of link to post and summary missing
Publicize does not currently make use of Twitter Cards. The reason for the decision is that third-party Twitter apps (which are incredibly common) cannot display Twitter Cards, so we found that including an image instead greatly increased engagement (otherwise it would only be a title and a link in third-party Twitter apps).
We are, of course, constantly re-evaluating this decision.
So … why does the “Sharing” module work differently? Why does the “Sharing” module show “Image + Summary” with a link to the post? Why is the “Sharing” module the same as the card?
Exercise with the “Sharing” module.
The sharing module simply shares a link on the social network as any sharing button would. It does not make use of the social network’s auto-sharing API.
But … on Facebook: why does it work well?
On Facebook: “image + summary” = URL to post
Because Facebook’s API operates quite different from Twitter’s. We have to work within the constraints of their provided APIs.
I will have to find another plugin. It is obvious that yours does not work 🙁
