    Hi,

I wanted to let you know that I cannot activate the plugin fileaway after updating to ver 3.9.7.7 and wp to 5.1.1. I update all my plugins and wp about once every other month or so. I have tried disabling all plugins to attempt to only activate fileaway by itself and still got the same error message.

    The error message is:
Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error.

Fatal error: Can’t use function return value in write context in /home/dtipropl/public_html/more/wp-content/plugins/file-away/lib/cls/class.fileaway_utility.php on line 645

Just thought I should let you know and thank you for your time on this.

Interesting. I haven’t gotten that error on any of my installs, but I will take a look at that line as soon as I get back to the desk and figure out a fix for you. Thanks for providing the error message.

I just submitted a new version which should solve your issue. It was related to the fact that you’re running < php 5.5.

Give it a few minutes and 3.9.7.8 should be available to you. Let me know if that solves it.

    I’m actually running PHP 7.1.22. Why do you think it’s < 5.5?

Should I try this new version?

    Thanks for all your help!

Wild. Well yeah, try it and see if that fixes it. The error indicated it was related to a way of using empty() that wasn’t supported until 5.5. But… maybe I just didn’t look closely enough at the version stuff. Nevertheless, this should fix the hiccup regardless.

I tried to update the plugin, but got an error “Plugin Update Failed”. Refreshing the page shows that 3.9.7.8 is installed though.

In any case neither the relative nor the absolute symlink worked.

Wait a second. This is the first time you’ve mentioned symlinks. What does symlinks have to do with activating the plugin? Do you have a new error log for me? I have updated to 3.9.7.8 on four installs already without issue.

Stoneyb, I think you’re in the wrong thread.

Stoneyb, I am still working on your issue. This thread is someone else’s.
