I have accelerated site/images switched on in Jetpack, with the option for mosaic galleries enabled. WordPress & Jetpack are both updated to the latest version.

In the last week some random images are not showing in these galleries. If I try to ‘open image in new tab’ I get:
We cannot complete this request, remote server returned an unexpected status code (400)
    but if I then delete
    &ssl=1
from the end of the address it shows.

The images not showing seem random and it is happening to past posts that used to display correctly.

I have contacted my webhost and they have checked everything their end – it sees to be fine. They have also made sure that all WordPress & Jetpack whitelisting is in place as recommended on support pages.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Howdy!

So, everything looks great from the debugger. There aren’t any reported errors with your Jetpack connection and http://www.holytrinityhalstead.com.

Can you send me a link to one of the affected galleries that are active on the site?

When I go here: https://www.holytrinityhalstead.com/2019/03/08/wonderful-world-book-day-2019/ All of the images are in place. There’s no indication that anything is missing.

How odd. The images aren’t all showing for me at work (behind a proxy) or at home (no proxy). Other people have contacted me too with the issue.

This is what I see: https://www.holytrinityhalstead.com/images/linked/imagesmissing-holytrinityhalsteadcom.png
and it’s the same with galleries on all of the posts I’ve checked, although I’ve not checked all of them, obviously πŸ™‚

It’s definitely working for me too, here’s what I see: https://screenshots.firefox.com/Dl57osFAKw8Qzpa0/www.holytrinityhalstead.com

What country are you browsing from currently?

We serve the images from data centers all over the world, depending on whichever one is closest to you, so an issue at one of them may explain why you see the problem but we don’t.

I’m in the UK. That’s the school I work at.

    Does the error message:
We cannot complete this request, remote server returned an unexpected status code (400)
I get when I right-click and ‘open image in new tab’ go along with that theory?
And why would the mage show when I delete the ‘&ssl=1’ bit from the end of the URL?

Incidentally, I’ve checked that it’s the same images missing at work/school and at home and it is.

Is there anything that an be done about this? I don’t know exactly when it started but it was OK a week ago and now there are images missing from past posts where once they were fine.

And thanks for looking into the issue and replying. πŸ™‚

I wonder if you’re in the same boat as https://wordpress.org/support/topic/remote-server-returned-an-unexpected-status-code-400/#post-11288069

They’re also in the UK, and their hosting provider was blockeding some of our IPs.

Would you mind checking with your hosting provider’s support to see if they’re blocking any IPs from the 195.234.109.0/24 range?

    Thread Starter foolhandy

    (@foolhandy)

I’ll ask them to check those.

They have already checked all IPs listed on this page from your support site
    https://jetpack.com/support/hosting-faq/
and they were all already whitelisted.

I’ll report back when they’ve checked. Thanks!

    Hello again,

That seems to have sorted it. Thank you. They unblocked all of those IPs and they are all showing.

Maybe the support page could be updated to include those IPs? πŸ™‚

Thanks again to all who’ve helped with this.

Update: I also manage https://sggm.sgasa.uk and it has started doing the same thing again there. I’ve switched the accelerated site feature off for now as it’s proving unreliable. A shame, but I can’t keep chasing my webhost to whitelist changing IP addresses. I just need things to work. πŸ™
