Text Widget missing from 2.8 install
-
Hello,
For some reason I am missing the Text Widget in my 2.8 upgrade. There are multiple instances of RSS and Categories, and all the others seem to be there, but Text is missing.
I first noticed this, as well as some other problems, after using the Automatic Install. So, I deactivated all plugins and then re-installed 2.8 manually. The other issues have been fixed, but this still remains. *I have not activated any plugins.*
Any help you can give is greatly appreciated.

Have you changed themes?
Is there anything in http://wordpress.org/support/topic/279132
that helps?Thanks.
I tried multiple themes and the Text Widget is missing from each. In each theme, it used to be there.
I looked at the link you provided, and don’t think any of it applies.
Is there a specific line of code or a file that controls which Widgets appear in the dashbar?

Not that I know of. I’d certainly try re-uploading fresh copies of the wp-admin and wp-includes folders.
Yeah, I tried uploading fresh copies of the wp-admin and wp-includes.
I’m fresh out of ideas. Sorry… 🙁
Tried all of the above as well, still missing the categories ~
I’ll search for other possible solutions
????Hi Cersa,
Yes, I am still missing the Text Widget. I have upgraded to 2.8.1 and there has been no change. Any help you can give is greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
BI have a blog network of 40+ blogs, I have updated 5 or 6 to 2.8 and 1 of them has this same problem…..no text widget..
Anybody find a resolution??
I’m also not seeing a text widget and I just upgraded to 2.8.5. Any update??
No text widget anymore on any of the themes I’ve tried, too. And they are updated themes. Blog is 2.8.6
I miss them! I wonder how one would go about adding them back in? Anyone heard anything yet?
Thanks –
