Publishing fail

After upgrading to the new 5.0 release. Anything can be published. The message is always the same “Update Failed”. All my sites are blocked for the same problem. As a security plugin I0m using wordfence.

This may be a plugin or theme conflict. Please attempt to disable all plugins, and switch to the default Twenty Seventeen theme. If the problem goes away, enable them one by one to identify the source of the problem.
If you can install plugins, install Health Check. On the troubleshooting tab, you can click the button to disable all plugins and change the theme for you, while you’re still logged in, without affecting normal visitors to your site.
Sorry James, could be that I’ve not described the problem in the right way. The problem is the same of an other topic inside the support that is “publishing fail” where I didn’t see a right answer. I use Generate Press and I don’t want to change the theme (also because I don’t want to waste time to do trials in order to solve a problem of the new release of WordPress).
If you think that this is the only solution it would means that we need to change Kernel and use the other that are growing up over 200% instead of 15% of wordpress.I don’t think it’s the only solution, I don’t even think it’s a solution, but it is the first step in identifying what is _causing_ the problem.
Again, you can use the Health Check plugin to try all of that without actually affecting your site.
Jeames, I’ve already tried with the deactivation of plugins. Also with 0 plugins the error remain the same, update failed. The problem is inside the 5.0 release.
Ok, and how about under the Twenty Nineteen theme? You can also do this from Health Check’s Troubleshooting tab.

Twenty Nineteen activated through Health Check’s, but the result is always the same, any time you try to add or change a page the system answer with “update failed”
Are you using anything that would block the REST API or require authentication to use the REST API? This may conflict with the new editor.
If not, you may be missing some core files from the update. Try downloading WordPress again, access your server via SFTP or FTP, or a file manager in your hosting account’s control panel (consult your hosting provider’s documentation for specifics on these), and delete then replace your copies of everything on the server except the wp-config.php file and the /wp-content/ directory with fresh copies from the download. This will effectively replace all of your core files without damaging your content and settings.
Some uploaders tend to be unreliable when overwriting files, so don’t forget to delete the original files before replacing them.

I’ve already tried. The only tools that use the rest api is word fence. the problem remains also with word fence deactivated
The latest W3 Total Cache also blocks the REST API as a default setting now.

It does sound like a REST API thing, but before we go “this is it” for certain, the Health Check plugin you just used got an update 2 minutes ago, and the Site Status tab in version 1.2.3 will test the REST API to see if anything is blocking it. (I have seen reports that W3 Total Cache also disables it for example).
If you’d be able to update the plugin and check the site status again though, and we can confirm it, that would be super!

Ok. Test with w3 and wordfence disabled. The problem remains. I use Elementor. If i go directly with Elementor the page could be modified. Nothing it’s possible outside. And also it’s not possible to add new pages.
Does Health Check’s primary tab report if the REST API is blocked or not?
It will be either green (good) or red (blocked).
