It’s the first time I heard about this particular problem, so is probably an isolated or special case.

That clearly describes that our related modification with thumbnails was the following:
“Changed: Improved memory use during thumbnail generation”.
Thumbnail generation is trigger when you use our bulk took to “regenerate thumbnails” or while you are uploading or importing photos.
Please check the following:
