@technomad42
We’ve identified a critical issue in Jetpack, which may cause PHP Fatal errors on multisite installations. You can either:
– wait for Jetpack’s next update, which should address this
– manually patch the affected file
You can track our fix’s progress, here:
– https://github.com/Automattic/jetpack/pull/9871
If you’d like to manually patch the affected file, please implement the changes shown here:
– https://github.com/Automattic/jetpack/pull/9871/files
We hope that helps, and apologies for any inconvenience!
Thanks – that could be considered a bit of a testing failure though!
I understand errors happen. This one white screened a client’s site, and then took down an entire network when I tried to fix it following your own troubleshooting steps. I have wasted literally a full day on diagnosing this, with no answers until I found this bug report.
Please look VERY HARD at how you notify users when something like this happens. My sites temporarily have Jetpack OFF and are missing features while you implement the fix. This was a major disruption for me.
How will affected users be informed when the next update is out?
@technomad42 @benwolfe
We understand how frustrating this can be.

Again, we apologize for the inconvenience.
Is this fatal-crash issue fixed in Jetpack 6.3.3, released today?
The GitHub thread does not make this sufficiently clear, and one post in the thread gives the impression the fix may not be added until Jetpack 6.4.
Those of us who experienced a WSOD in Multisite would like to know whether it is safe to update Jetpack yet. Thanks.

Thank you for patiently waiting @benwolfe, and apologies for our delayed response. Yes, the latest version of Jetpack is not affected by the WSOD + Multisite issue.
You’re correct; the fix wasn’t included until Jetpack 6.4, as detailed here:
– https://github.com/Automattic/jetpack/releases
Please let us know if you encounter any issues with 6.4 – we’ll be happy to help! 🙂
