    Hi,
I am aware that version 4.9.6 of WP is out and has been since late May. My site is on 4.9.5 and it reports that I am on the latest version. I clicked on the check button and that did its check and confirmed that I was on the latest version. Which is not so.

I have noticed this in the past and got perplexed but then it reported an update and so I ignored the delay and put it down to a glitch somewhere. But now I could do with 4.9.6 and no simple way of upgrading.

Also, this would appear to be an issue and it would be good to resolve it.

    Many Thanks

I cant attach a screenshot but this is a copy/paste of the page:

Check wp-config.php. Are any of the update-blocking constants enabled?

Steve – thanks for the assistance. None of the constants detailed in the link are defined in my wp-config.php – so I guess the answer is “no”.

Please install the health check plugin and report back its findings: https://wordpress.org/plugins/health-check/

Can I report this fixed now please. As well as asking here to see if anyone had experienced similar troubles, I lso spoke with my hosting provider.

They hae a default firewall rule that prevents web pages (user www-data) from accessing other websites. You can add exceptions t othis and I had already aded *.wordpress.org and *.worpress.com as well as others.

Because the thing would work eventually I couldn’t see how it could be this issue, but it was so germane s I did a test by removing it.

All at once, everything “unglued” and a whole host of updates came through (plugins and themes as well as core)

Anyway – the above for info if it helps anyone else.

Can I also thank Steve for his assistance in this matter. Greatly appreciated.
