I just updated as well and it is broke. Both in a footer widget and a full page of testimonials.
Unfortunately I didn’t save a copy of the previous version.
Running WordPress version 4.9.5
Download WP Rollback – it allows you to backdate plugins – we had to do as we use testimonials in a widget at the side scrolling round and stopped the website working

Yes ive updated again on https://www.uktweedjackets.com/customer-comments/ as you can see doesn’t fully load the page
No cache plugin on that site as it was still in development. I was able to pull the previous version from a server backup so I’m back to where I was yesterday with the plugin working.
Before I did that I did remove and add the short codes again with no effect. Both in the footer widget and the page it would show the stars for the first testimonial and nothing else. The source code was pretty broken and broke the rest of the javascript code on my page as well.
Is there any way I can access the site to check it out, with the new version installed?
I had to rollback to 4.3.6 as well. After update to 4.4.1 it removes and/ or conflicts with my site wide floating social icons and freezes scrolling testimonials at footer.
Never had any issues for last couple years.
Try 4.4.2 please and let me know if the problem persists or new ones arise 🙂

So yeah everything works fine now with the exception of the stars. No matter the color I choose they remain black. I even tried changing background, box font color etc to see if there was a correlation.
I tried resetting and it still did nothing. But all else seems in check.

It is amazing, you spent 45 days testing and this stuff happens….go figure 🙁
Typos fixed, stars seem fine-likely a cache problem.
Problems I’m still having:
– Sliding Rotater showing entire testimonials instead of excerpt
– Google no longer picking up Schema markup
– Black Stars (tried everything from resetting, disabling plugins and cache)
