Whole site went down

I recently installed Woocommerce and have been adding a few products. There was nothing displaying on the /shop page, so I started troubleshooting. I found a post stating that the permalinks should be set. I set them to /shop/product-category/sample-product/

After I saved the whole site started showing a white page and I cannot navigate anywhere.

I found out this is known as the “white screen of death” and can be caused by excessive memory usage. I disabled Woocommerce and it fixed it, but since I need shop, this isn’t a long term solution. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Could you test to see if this happens when only WooCommerce is active, along with a default WordPress theme? More info here: https://docs.woocommerce.com/document/woocommerce-self-service-guide/#section-4

It was happening only with the WooCommerce plugin. I fixed it by adding

define('WP_MEMORY_LIMIT', '256M');

to wp-config.php
