    Hi

I get an error when trying to install Wordfence:

Wordfence could not register with the Wordfence scanning servers when it activated. You can try to fix this by deactivating Wordfence and then activating it again, so Wordfence will retry registering for you. If you keep seeing this error, it usually means your WordPress server can’t connect to our scanning servers, or your wfConfig database table cannot be created to save the key. You can try asking your host to allow your server to connect to noc1.wordfence.com or check the wfConfig database table and database privileges.

I have tried deactivating and reactivating, deleting and reinstalling. I have also checked the database to see if the wfConfig table has been created, which it has. My hosting company have checked and say that there is no reason I shouldn’t be able to check. The server IP is 217.160.93.67. Is Wordfence blocking this?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Having same issue…
Wordfence could not register with the Wordfence scanning servers when it activated.
Will send diagnostic e-mail. Showing curl ssl issues so I updated curl & openssl on server (centos) still same issues.
    Tables also created.

    Thanks.

    Hi @bootneck2222
I’m wondering what do you get under (Wordfence > Tools > Diagnostics = Connectivity) section? while being on the same page you can click on “Send Report By Email” button and send the report to “alaa [at] wordfence [dot] com”. Make sure to include your forum username and I’ll take a look at this report and let you know my findings.

@youngfam Please open a new support thread regarding your question as it will make it easier for us to handle support requests separately as per forums rules.

    Thanks.

    Hi wfalaa

    Thanks for reply.

Here is the output from the Wordfence > Tools > Diagnostics > Connectivity:

wp_remote_post() test to noc1.wordfence.com failed! Response was: cURL error 35: SSL connect error<br />

    Report sent.

    Hi,
I recommend updating PHP to at least version 5.6 and re-check this issue again. WordPress recommends running PHP version 7.2 or greater. And we strongly recommend PHP version 5.6 or greater as mentioned in the plugin’s requirements page.

    Thanks.

    Hi Wfalaa

Upgrade to php 5.6.33 still has the same problem:

    Hi,
After rechecking the diagnostics report, I can see OpenSSL and libSSH are recently updated however, cURL is still at version 7.19.7 which was released back in 2009. I recommend updating cURL library to a recent version.

    Thanks.
