SSH SFTP Updater Support

Keeping your WordPress install up-to-date and installing plugins in a hassle-free manner is not so easy if your server uses SFTP. “SSH SFTP Updater Support” for WordPress uses phpseclib to remedy this deficiency.

  1. Upload the files to the /wp-content/plugins/ssh-sftp-updater-support directory
  2. Activate the plugin through the ‘Plugins’ menu in WordPress

it works!

I was fighting this problem for 3 hours. Installed the plugin and suddenly everything works. Great job!

SSH Finally working on NGINX and PHP7

Apparently there is a bug in the php-ssh2 extension.

I tried using the pecl extension instead but kept having problems.

sudo apt-get install -y libssh2-1-dev php-pear
sudo pecl install ssh2-1.0
sudo ln -s /etc/php/7.0/mods-available/ssh2.ini /etc/php/7.0/fpm/conf.d/20-ssh2.ini
sudo service php7.0-fpm restart

Always got the error “Unable to locate WordPress content directory (wp-content)”.

So I downloaded this plugin, uploaded it via scp to the server and it worked immediately.

Thanks for saving the day

Just installed WordPress…wanted to update to the latest 4.7.1. WordPress was giving me some crap about not finding the install directory (like, dude….you are IN it) Installed the plugin (manually downloaded, unzipped and sftp’d it to the plugins directory) and BOOM….automatic updating works with the press of a button now (with the same ssh2 host/user/pass as i tried before) Thanks fellas.
