BuddyPress for LearnDash

Want your learners to interact with each other? BuddyPress for LearnDash turns your course driven website into a social education platform, creating a seamless bridge between BuddyPress and LearnDash.

BuddyPress Groups

Easily tie any LearnDash Course to a BuddyPress Group.

  • Course participants automatically get added as members to the group
  • Group becomes private to course participants and invited members
  • Course Lessons become visible at the group
  • Course activity gets streamed into the group feed (optional)
  • Forum gets added to the group (if bbPress is enabled)
  • Course featured image becomes group avatar (if no group avatar has been set)

BuddyPress Activity

Activity is one of the core features of BuddyPress, allowing users to interact with each other in real-time. When a course is tied to a group, course actions are optionally added to the group’s activity stream. Group admins can determine which actions to allow in their group, including:

  • User starts a course
  • User completes a course
  • User creates a lesson
  • User completes a lesson
  • User passes a quiz
  • User comments on single lesson page

BuddyPress Members

  • Your members can view their Active and Completed courses in their profiles.
  • Leaders and Students get added as filterable tabs in your Members directory.
  • All LearnDash user links redirect to member profiles (instead of author pages).

bbPress Forums

If bbPress is enabled, a forum will be tied to every “course group” automatically, using the same name as the course for the forum title. Group members can then discuss the course in one central location.

Extend LearnDash with ‘Social Learner’

BuddyPress for LearnDash is built by the experienced developers at BuddyBoss who also offer a premium social learning solution called Social Learner.

  • Course Group - Associate LearnDash courses with BuddyPress groups.

Activity streams not updating.

When I add a new lesson, it has stopped updating the activity stream on both the group activity stream and the main activity stream. When I add a new topic and update the course, it just continues to load and states the following: BuddyPress for Learndash enrolling users to the course buddypress groups. This can take a while if you have many students(members). Do not navigate away from this page until this is done. The above never completes and just has a loading icon that never ends.

Does not give what is promised

Unfortunately, the integration of the BuddyPress groups with the LearnDash courses is very limited. This plugin is not able to enroll course group members to the Closed type Course. Those. course group members do not have access to course materials. It would be better if you sync the Lerndash groups with BuddyPress groups. Then all the great features of LearnDash groups would join the functional of the BuddyPress groups and it would be cool. But now neither LearnDash groups nor BuddyPress groups give the desired result.

Fatal error still not fixed after 6 months.

If you disable groups component of BuddyPress then this plugin will fatal error and take out the entire site. This error was reported over six months ago but has not been addressed. Typical of this developer, they incapable of addressing a simple issue that was reported over 6 months ago. Avoid this developer at all costs.

Good Idea, but it destroys the theme…

The idea is great, but unfortunately the plugin is completely useless in its current version. It destroys the theme (btw: Buddyboss Social Learner, the author it's own theme) and even after deleting the plugin, groups and courses remain connected to each other (FIX: re-insatll plugin and disconnect group from course, then delete the plugin again). Several PHP errors included...

What a crap

The plugin does not make any useful and it brokes the theme. The one-star grading is based on other experiences what are based on dealing with the BuddyBoss -services. We purchased BuddyBoss products with high expectations. The intention was to use their products in our internal training and education. We saw their demos and hands-on Youtube videos where the installation procedure is automatic and works like a clock. First problems were in the installation process. It did not completely and despite of given promises, the installation had to finish by our selves. Well, it was ok for then - things happen, that was our impression. The next problems were browser related problems - there were really poor support between different browsers, like Chrome, Firefox and Edge. Then there were continuous problems with functionalities. Some features just stopped working without any reason. We didn't receive any reasonable answers for this problems. At first they wanted the admin account to the site, and then the request was admin password to entire server where we run the site. In this point we got enough for this product and service, especially when we inspected theme check. The theme what BuddyBoss was selling was technically crap according to theme check test. We tested default theme what BuddyBoss is selling their website and the theme was already broken from the beginning. There were nothing else installed than themecheck and BuddyBoss products on WordPress. We lost huge amount of time and money doing business with BuddyBoss. One thing we learned: If a software product or service is not available on common market places and the product is available on vendor's site, do not buy it. Buy products only from common market places. This kind of crap what BuddyBoss sells, can not be available on market places like Envato for example.
