How it works

  1. Install and activate the plugin
  2. Visitors use your site search as usual
  3. Open Search Intent in your WordPress admin to view the dashboard
  4. Create content for terms with zero results

Privacy

This plugin stores search terms, result counts, post types, and timestamps only. It does not collect IP addresses, user IDs, cookies for tracking, or any other personal data. Search data stays in your WordPress database.

External services

This plugin does not require an external account to work. All analytics features run locally on your WordPress site.

Installation

  1. Upload the beantown-search-intent-insights folder to /wp-content/plugins/, or install through Plugins Add New
  2. Activate the plugin through the Plugins menu
  3. Go to Search Intent Dashboard to view analytics
  4. Optional: configure logging under Search Intent Settings

FAQ

Does this work with WooCommerce?

Yes. When visitors search for products, the plugin detects product intent and shows a product intent rate on the dashboard.

Does this require an external account?

No. The plugin works entirely on your server.

Is this GDPR compliant?

The plugin does not store personal data. Search terms alone are generally not considered personal data unless they contain identifiable information entered by users.

What data is stored?

  • Search term
  • Normalized term (for grouping)
  • Number of results found
  • Post types searched
  • Whether the search targeted products
  • Date and time of search

Can I delete all data?

Yes. Enable Remove all search data when the plugin is deleted under Settings, then delete the plugin.
