    I've only been working with WordPress for a few days, but looking at the huge variety of problems posted here coupled with a good number of my own, most unresolved, am I wrong in suspecting that WordPress is a bit of a dog's dinner?

    Does anyone actually get to use the thing for any length of time without problems?

    So far, despite have installed two different versions on two different servers a total of seven times, I have yet to get it working more than five minutes without it falling over.

    I'd be delighted if someone can give me some confidence - or should I just give up?

    I have three sites up and running with no issues.

    Start from scratch and follow the directions step by step.

    Sorry that you are having problems.

    WordPress does work and is working in many locations as is detailed here:

    I am using it for over 4 years on many websites, different servers.
    I have installed it for many clients and they all work as expected.

    The majority of "problems" posted here are user ignorance and not willing to learn or read the Docs.

    I have followed the directions and also used fantastico to install it. It just keeps falling over!

    I go to the page write post. I start to write a post. All seems fine for a few minutes and then the front page appears to the right of the editor and the whole thing freezes up. Where am I going wrong?

    @orchard_lincs

    I've used WP for many years on several different platforms with several different hosts. I've experienced many of the common problems people come to these forums about and guess who's fault they were? MINE. Now I have no problems whatsoever with installation or use because I've learned what I'm doing. User error is the fault of pretty damn near ALL the issues in these forums and that fault lies simply in that the user is inexperienced with WP and often web design, HTML, PHP, CSS, etc in general.

    The point is that decent software doesn't require "many years" of experience. It's user-friendly, intuitive and designed to be used by ordinary people.

    If you make a television you don't deliver a pile of components and tell the user to start winding coils. He just gets it out the box, switches on and watches it.

    This is not software, it is a design tool for developers and to suggest you can have a blog "up and running in 5 minutes" is complete garbage.
