Pods is a framework for creating, managing, and deploying customized content types and fields.
I've used Pods for a few years on several projects and it has helped speed up development time as well as make slick UI's for the end user. The use of this plugin makes nearly any WordPress web app idea possible.
I needed a solution to create custom post types and fields - sure lots of plugins do that but Pods and its extra components also allows me to create custom post templates that replace the standard wordpress output.
Pods is a very powerful solution to customize your wordpress site and it helped me to keep a promise on a website project that I wouldn't have been able to do otherwise.
Whats more Pods has a great community very willing to help you out with any questions or issues (thanks Jim True)
This plugin just saved me hours of development!
If the templates part would be enhanced with more logic and some bugfixes – I'd give it 6 out of 5 stars!
I wanted to do more with my portfolio and I wanted to automate the layout of my portfolio items. Pods is an ideal solution for this. Now I have pages which display my games and art on certain conditions and each game and art post has a fixed layout of which parts will only show if the information is there.
I no longer need to manually set the layout and I've got a "checklist" to see what information I need about my project. I love it!
This plugin is great! It makes custom post types and custom fields so easy. I looked at several other plugins before using Pods, and Pods is by far my favorite, especially when combing with several of their other plugins to output custom post types and custom fields.
1 star – because it is free plugin
2 star – because of your work
3 star – because of content type part that is working perfectly
4 star – attempt to add higher class cms/cmf functionality into wordpress
- star – not enought intuitive for end user, working more like tokens than fields.
I've actually been using PODS for a couple of years and I love it. Usually if I am having an issue not being able to do something in WP that I want to do, I can do it with PODS- and typically without having to do any PHP coding.
With PODS I can significantly reduce the number of plug-ins needed for a site (which helps with updates, compatibility, and support). I love that it is customizable and lets me create my own templates and CSS.
Projects that I've used PODS for include: Upcoming show listings, product catalog pages, content sliders, and media libraries.
I've been using Pods for over 2 years now and I keep coming back to it as my most useful tool in my WordPress arsenal. Someone mentioned above; it's not enough to call it a plugin, it really is a framework for taking WordPress into a true CMS. Most of the work I do on websites I couldn't do without Pods and it's relational fields that just tie data together.
I've been using Pods for probably a couple of years now. It's the first plugin I install on all my projects. Calling pods a plugin just doesn't do it justice. It completely transforms WP into a fully competent CMS. It has changed everything.
I found this plugin a years back while researching document repositories and other cms tools -- and it was by far the easiest and most powerful of all the custom field plugins I tested. I occasionally revisit my plugin research and this team has consistently been on top of this quality free product. These developers are the real deal and stand behind their work. In comparison, others do the bare minimum. At the end of the day, it is a great tool that has found a home in over 30K installations to date. Thanks very much for this community contribution.
