In reply to: [MyBookTable Bookstore by Stormhill Media] Categories and Order ButtonHi Jenny,
MyBookTable is capable of doing all those things you need.
Books have Tags which function exactly like Post Categories, and there is a built in shortcode to display all books with a given Tag, so you can display them wherever you like.
Manually adding books to MyBookTable is the primary method of adding new books to your book table.
You can redirect users to a custom order form page using the Universal Buy Button if you purchase a MyBookTable Upgrade. This feature is not available in the free version though.
Let me know if you have any more questions!
~Tim
There is no way with default WordPress behavior to display Custom Post Types like the Books post type along side your normal blog post, this requires custom functionality.
You can have a theme developer add this to your theme by pointing them to this WordPress Codex article on the subject: Custom Post Types in the Main Query.

In reply to: [MyBookTable Bookstore by Stormhill Media] Comments Not ShownThis sounds like a compatability issue with your theme.
We’ve put a great deal of effort into making MyBookTable compatible with as wide of a range of themes as possible, but due to the huge variety of different themes that can be used with WordPress it’s impossible to support them all out of the box.
You can fix this either by switching to a different theme that works better with MyBookTable or by hiring a theme developer to tweak your current theme to be more compatible by pointing them to our Developer Documentation.

In reply to: [MyBookTable Bookstore by Stormhill Media] Book Order DisappearedAwesome, great to hear that’s working for you! I realize it’s a pain to go in and re-enter the data in a different format now but we feel this will be a far more robust system for the future. As always, please let us know if you ever have any more questions or feedback.
Thanks,

In reply to: [MyBookTable Bookstore by Stormhill Media] Book Order DisappearedDon’t worry, you’re not being a pest, we really do appreciate your feedback on this. Hopefully we will be able to get you the functionality that you need soon.
If I am understanding correctly, with the new Attribute Sorting system you should be able to order your books by release date just like you were before the removal of the Book Order field. On each book page you should be able to change the “Published on” field in the Publish box in the right-top corner of the page to the book’s release date. Then, you can go to the book sorting page and use Attribute Sorting to sort by Post Date. This should cause all your books to slot in automatically where they should be by release date. Please let me know if I am not explaining this clearly or if I am misunderstanding what you are needing.
Thank you,

In reply to: [MyBookTable Bookstore by Stormhill Media] Book Order DisappearedHey guys, thanks for your patience on this issue.
In 2.0.7 we just released a new book sorting system that will allow you to sort your books by any combination of attributes such as Date, Author, Genre, etc. In particular, by using the Date sorting method, you should be able to fine-tune your individual book order from your book pages in a much more intuitive way than the old Book Order field which was just an arbitrary number.
Hopefully this will make it much easier for you all to manage your book order more quickly and effectively. We’re still tweaking this system so if you have any more feedback on how to improve it we’d love to hear it.

In reply to: [MyBookTable Bookstore by Stormhill Media] DriveThru FictionThe MyBookTable Developer Documentation is designed to be used by experienced developers with prior knowledge of PHP and WordPress hooks. You may need to hire a developer to make any custom changes to the code you need if the Universal Buy Button is not sufficient for your needs.

In reply to: [MyBookTable Bookstore by Stormhill Media] Edit series textUnfortunately this is not something you can change from the WordPress backend. We do our best to make our default frontend styles work for 90% of our users, but any further customization must be done with custom development. You can have a theme developer to override how this looks by pointing them to our Developer Documentation.

In reply to: [MyBookTable Bookstore by Stormhill Media] Question about volumes in a seriesThanks for pointing this out, when we added the series ordering behavior we failed to update the shortcode to work the same way. This will be fixed in the next update which should be released very soon.

Thanks for notifying us of this, apparently some of the improvements we did to the shadow boxes for the regular books interfered with the code for the widget shadow boxes, causing it not to show up when it should in some cases. This will be fixed in the next version of MyBookTable that should be released very soon.

Hi James,
We’ve done our best to make the MyBookTable widgets default styling look as good as possible on the wide variety of user themes we need to support, but unfortunately it will not be ideal for all themes. The extra space you are seeing is there because the majority of user themes expect widgets to provide their own padding, but your particular theme has it’s own padding and expects the widgets to not have padding.
However, MyBookTable is designed to be very flexible to customize via code, so if you have a theme developer that can add CSS to your theme’s style sheet you can override this behavior. The CSS selectors you are looking for

In reply to: [MyBookTable Bookstore by Stormhill Media] MyBookTable TrackingWe basically just track how people are using the plugin in order to know what we need to improve or streamline. For example, how many people are using compatibility mode versus having custom template overrides, how many people are using the new API’s or using the help page, how many books the average user has and how long they use the plugin. We also have some A/B tests measuring different ways we can improve our UI. We don’t track any specific data about your books or anything that is not strictly anonymous.
Currently there is just the one admin notification asking users to allow or disallow tracking because we thought that would be sufficient for most people, but we can add it in if we have reports of people accidentally enabling tracking and wanting to disable it.
