After playing around what made it work for me was as follows:
    – permalinks settings – Post name
    – activate slider and/or home icons in virtue options
then the following sequence should be followed:
    1. polylang – string translations – do your translations, then save
    2. polyland – settings/URL modifications – select: “The language is set from the directory name in pretty permalinks” and “Remove /language/ in pretty permalinks”; then save.

This worked for me. I guess it had to do with the permalinks but it looks it was from the way they are set in the polylang plugin.

Thank you Kadence Themes for your helpt even if it was not to do with the theme.

It seems multilangual sites are one of the serious drawback of WP and this is what I wrote to them in the recent survey.

Indeed, my setting is to “post names”. What should be the recommended setting from your experience?
I have used this type of permalinks in order to improve SEO outreach, but naturally my top priority is site functionality.

I am now confused – whether I was overly excited when changing to the new solution via the string translation, but I might have not realised that I have the same problem – it does not work.
Despite having correctly translated the strings, and they do appear in the polylang string translation page, on the website the text that appears in either language is the same text as coded on the Virtue Theme Options page.

Can we get some support from the theme developers? Do you think this is related to the theme? To me it is more likely as the problem is with the rendering of the page and not the possibility of translating it.

Your excellent help would be much appreciated.
Cheers (I might have to open another thread for that in case it does not get noticed here.)

hm, not sure of the creation sequence of my site. I think I created first the Bulgarian version but in general that shouldn’t matter, as the actual language is irrelevant.
Have you made sure that ~/home is the English translation of ~/начало? This is done through the Pages section of WP admin panel. All the settings should be identical except for the permalink, of course.
In my case my ~/home (or just the domain) page is the page Начало, i.e. the Bulgarian one and its English translation is ~/home-2.
All the translations of the content I did via the string translations.
I guess my first suggestion is to double check the translations of the pages and also the permalinks of each of them. It is very strange where this mismatch comes from.
How do your “URL modifications” settings of polylang look? Perhaps something there could cause it…

I am not much of a help but let me know of your progress.

Good thing I got a notification about the activity in this topic 🙂
I have now checked and indeed the string translation in polylang works just fine to translate the slider and the home icons.
Thanks Kadence for implementing this great feature. I have now removed the workaround and all is working out of the box from the theme settings.
    Cheers

    Hi,
Thanks for a prompt and honest reply. I have given a go your suggestion and it seems to work. I will have to play around a little to achieve the nice look of the original theme. Only test it with a slider and it works well.
Thank you very much for your usual help.

After a couple of hours of battling with various redirecting plugins I finally made it work with Quick Page/Post Redirect.
Thank you once again for the support.
