In reply to: Permalinks – 404 ErrorYes, I manually edited the posts from the portfolio to match the blog entries, so they can view the image of the book, then click on it and it re-directs to the blog post. I don’t know about CPT or taxonomy, I’m sorry I can’t comment on that….
WordPress is pretty new to me this is my first time out the gate with it.

In reply to: Permalinks – 404 ErrorMeaning that instead of pulling up portfolio posts, I pointed the portfolio to blog post (by making the slugs identical). Not what I wanted but it will function until I get it resolved.

In reply to: Permalinks – 404 Errorgovpatel…I’ve tried everything with no success. I think I’ll try a clean install and start over. For now, I’ve “rigged” it to work, which was a manual link to the blog posts (all 100 of them!)
Thanks for all your suggestions, support and help. It is not resolved, but we keep moving on…

In reply to: Permalinks – 404 ErrorThe way it is set up is I created names for all the galleries (photography, weddings, etc), with no “parent”. The individual portfolio posts are then put into categories.
I hope I’m explaining that correctly.Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Permalinks – 404 ErrorI should add that the strangest thing I’ve come across is that several posts actually do show up, like…one in every ten. There’s no logic to it, it’s not one category, it’s not one post date. I’ve looked at each of the posts, there’s nothing different about them in any way… Which makes absolutely no sense at all.

In reply to: Permalinks – 404 ErrorHi again. Yes, this part is true, but when you drill down from that category into an actual portfolio item, it generates a 404.

In reply to: Permalinks – 404 ErrorThanks everyone, still no success. It’s is hosted on godaddy, so they have assured me that the apache mod_rewrite is by default enabled.

In reply to: Permalinks – 404 ErrorI already have that exact code in my .htaccess file being done automatically by wordpress, but that doesn’t fix a thing.

In reply to: Permalinks – 404 ErrorThank you for a response. When I put in the custom structure, what happens is all the pages and the blog posts become “pretty”, but then in the portfolio…the individual pages generate a 404 message.
I have just changed it to the custom structure (/%postname%/) so you can see what happens now…
