Thanks for checking – it’s resolved now. See my above post. It was related to my URL settings.

In reply to: Password protected but no access to page.Sweet! I figured it out – in my case, anyway. My WordPress is installed in a subdirectory of my root domain – vcfm.net. I bought a new domain viachristisocialgroup.org and had it as an addon domain pointing to vcfm.net/socialgroup. Well, in my Settings, I had changed the values in the WordPress address, but not the blog address, like so –
WordPress address (URL): http://www.viachristisocialgroup.org
Blog address (URL): http://vcfm.net/socialgroupApparently, any sort of login was confused by this and forgetting my password or something. Anyway, the following setting fixes password problem.
WordPress address (URL): http://www.viachristisocialgroup.org
Blog address (URL): http://www.viachristisocialgroup.orgIt wasn’t rocket science, but it was escaping me… Hope this helps someone else, too!

In reply to: Password protected but no access to page.I’m also noticing I’m having trouble if I try to use the Private option as well. I can log in as administrator and edit things, then view the site and in my admin panel, my option still says “Log In” as if it doesn’t recognize that I’m logged in already. I’m thinking this is related. Like the password is ignored or dumped into the big bit bucket in the sky immediately upon use. So after I log in and try to view the Private pages, I’m being told I must log in.

In reply to: Password protected but no access to page. You can try it at http://www.vcfm.net/socialgroup/ – the latest post is called Test. Password is ‘test’ (w/o quotes, of course).

In reply to: Password protected but no access to page.BernardBorealis,
I disabled all plug-ins, went to default. Published a test post. Could see it fine. Password protected with password test and re-published. Went back to post, refreshed and it asked for password as expected. Entered test for password and it refreshes and just fills the box with ‘password dots’ and doesn’t allow me to view the post. It’s as if I did nothing. Does it normally error with a ‘wrong password’ message if the wrong password is entered?
I’m running 2.7.1. I’m at a loss as to what is causing this. I’m hoping to release this updated site March 3rd with a private address book page to the users… I don’t know of a work-around…
Thanks for any ideas…

In reply to: Password protected but no access to page.Wow, I’m just having the same trouble today. Had a post that worked as password protected this morning and this evening now I enter the password and can’t get the page to show. I tried all the suggestions here. I tried changing permalinks, recreating the page from scratch, changing to a simpler password, taking the password on and off… Very strange. Did you ever resolve this, mutantst?
Thanks,
Kc
