  • Try clearing your browser cache first and see what happens.

Because you haven’t categorized any of the posts (write a post, click on a category and post it, the category name should appear).

If that doesn’t solve it, then you just don’t have your sidebar configured to show categories.

If that’s the case then go to your admin page > design > widgets and add one which shows categories. If your theme does not support widgets, then open your sidebar.php and add

    <?php wp_list_categories(); ?>

    What browser do you use?

Try using the latest Firefox version, and make sure you have no other tabs open which constantly reload.

Haven’t heard of this problem yet.

Check if everything looks normal in your directories using an FTP client, if not, delete everything (backing up the files you’ve edited) and reinstall WP.

Actually, I think I can safely say we both have a big mouth, maybe because we’re both of Serbian descent 🙂 </joke>.

I do see how you proved your point that “it’s easy to criticize etc”, I never said it wasn’t. You challenging us, to make logos was really sweet. But you strayed off the point, the point was that a professional designer could have made a logo that would have been significantly better for $25.

I’ll give you credit for defending your point though.

    News flash,

I know how to critique logos, I dont know how to design them, i don’t have a degree in design, i’m 15 after all
I designed those logos while in school in around 20 min

I still think they look better than his logo, but that’s my opinion and it’s subjective. As far as I’m concerned you can think whatever you want, and even enjoy it. I love being criticized because in the end it improves your work, however I hate people that criticize work and inject comments criticizing not just the product, but the maker as well.

I love it how you immediately associate the “C” with the copyright symbol – lol, and I really don’t see what you have against “C”‘s.

Again, I completely agree. I’ll still work on the style for a bit.

As for your offtopic comment, thanks for pointing me to TDO Forum Theme. I browsed through it and found it really interesting.

For now though, I’ll stick to just a normal theme. Once i’m finished with the normal Eish! I’ll definitely move on to maybe Eish! Forums or something, in which (as you said), I would use forum-like features.

    thanks 🙂

    You have a point.

But essentially there are two ways of remembering a logo

    1) you see it all over the place (ala Coke, CVS, etc.) and therefore you remember it
    2) you see it in some place and since the design (or message) is so intriguing, you remember it

For 1 you need, well, tons of money, and a great designer.
For 2, you need a great designer.

    Don’t call my teacher 🙂

I’m currently in school, in class, more specifically in the Computer Science class. We have two periods and this is the 2nd, I’ve just finished all my required work so i’m free to do anything.

I decided to use some clip art we used in school last year, combine it with some text in Adobe Fireworks and create a few logos.

Technically, I’m not allowed to upload stuff via FTP during class, but ah well.

    $25 please. 🙂

EDIT: i know he wanted to avoid the whole stickman thing, but hey we had some laying around over here so I decided to use them.

EDIT 2: ok here is the second batch.

There we go, does it look any better now?

    Hmmm.

I think you’re actually right, it would pay of to have some sort of excerpt in place. Thanks for the critique i really appreciate it.

Ok my turn to have a say on this 🙂 !

Personally I don’t know much about logo design. But I can say a few things.

    1) Every good logo has a meaning
    2) Every good logo is easy to remember
    3) Every good logo is easily associated to/with its meaning

The logo provided doesn’t fit into any of these categories.

    1) It has has some sort of a meaning, “Chris Ranes” Personal trainer etc. but this meaning is not conveyed design-wise (which incidentally, is the point of any good logo)

    2) How do we remember things? We associate them with a meaning, a cause, an image, or an experience. Does this logo have any of that? No.

    3) Nothing much to say here since it doesn’t have much meaning.

Now I know you could go arguing that this logo cost only $25. But hey, I just proved you wrong, it’s a bad logo, it won’t help him, and he lost 25$ to you.

Judging by your previous replies I don’t think you take criticism lightly. But hey, before you go and bash be with your post and declare me an e-punk, remember that by commenting on your logo i am trying to help you.

Oh just as an interesting fact, Carolyn Davidson designed the now famous Nike “swoosh” logo for $35.

    Nope.

This theme will use CSS exclusively (apart from the quote.png image used in quotes).

Personally I think that including images into free WP themes is not, usually, what users want. Furthermore, I don’t think including images would make the theme look better, and images would certainly not help load time.

    Thanks for the comment,

the theme now works in IE7 and IE6, and it is almost ready for release.

But still, does anybody else have any comments? I’d love to hear a health critique of my theme.

Great theme, I love the colours but i would improve a few things.

1.) I know this might sound stupid, but instead of writing just “search”, i would maybe put in “Hit Enter to Search” or something like that.

2.) your favicon looks nice, but it doesn’t really relate to your sites colour scheme or design

3.) adding a logo of some sort or using a wackier font for your site name could improve branding

4.) usually a visitor to your site will quickly scan your content (and consequently the site design) and then decide weather or not to continue his or her stay. In the case of your site I needed a few seconds to establish what the main idea was. I would maybe suggest adding some sort of message which is quickly recognizable (design-wise) and can instantly tell a visitor what your site is about.

5.) your CSS is not valid, it has one mistake 🙂

Apart from that 😛 great work!
