WPMU creates whole new blogs. You would have to go onto each blogs backend to add content, make changes, & etc… Taking categories and making them subdomains allows you to not have to worry about that.
I think I’m looking for the same thing too. I need something that will allow me to link to the full original article as “Read More”. I’m basically looking for a mod for non-full feeds.
