In reply to: Transferring WordPress site onto a pre-hosted domainThanks, again, for your very speedy response Rahul 🙂
I’d just found everything in the Public folder when your message popped in – but now I’m a little concerned about deleting everything else in there… should I? (of course, having backed it all up, first)….
If I delete everything that isn’t anything to do with WP then when I reload the URL will it be running as it should?
Thanks – once more – for your kind and attentive support

In reply to: Transferring WordPress site onto a pre-hosted domainthanks Rahul – all that I’m okay with…. it’s the “independent hoster” who’s entire system is at root level that I can’t deal with….
I go to his root and I see a lot of folders…. I can’t see any WP install that I’ve already instructed Fantastico to install…. I go back to Fantastico and it says that it’s already installed WP at root level of this domain…. but I can’t see it anywhere + I have a lot of other folders that, if I touch, could screw up email accounts etc….
I hope you understand my rather vague attempts at explaining the situation…
Cheers again

In reply to: changed MySQL database reset my site!?!?Hi “Obscure” – making insinuations about someone’s intelligence is a sure-fire way to stop this conversation being productive…
I don’t need to know what to do…. I already confirmed that I’m slightly more aware of the situation than I was a half hour ago…. I need to know HOW to do it……
if you have any productive input then please provide it, otherwise please keep your bigoted opinions about strangers’ levels of intelligence to yourself…
maybe in future, you should consider changing the word “stupid” for something less critical, like “silly”? I admit, my mistake was silly…. my Intelligence Quota, however, shows that I am far from stupid 🙂
Any further explanations of what is necessary would be gratefully appreciated – any further assumptions about my intelligence will be rebuked…
Thanks very much…..

In reply to: changed MySQL database reset my site!?!?thanks for your prompt reply, Joseph,
Using “Fetch” I can see that all my files, uploads, themes etc are STILL online being hosted at “http://www.waterworksproductions.biz”….
So – apologies for coming across a little “simple” but – nothing has changed, apart from the MySQL database… Are you saying that it is the MySQL database that stores ALL info (posts / pages / links to images etc?)
If that is the case then please can you advise me on the next step (for another domain):
I have built a site at http://www.creasedpixels.com/alanta (my domain, sub-hosting the clients site, while I built it…) he is now ready to transfer it to his own domain – http://www.alantavilla.com
what do you suggest I change, and where should I change it, before I lose everything, again?
Thanks very much, again, for your kind help,
Kind Regards
Chris
