Social Engine with all the plugins is like £1000!! If your looking for something on the lines of Facebook and got £200 to spend on the project then go pickup PHPFox. I would love a copy of that and it also has an application api just like facebook lets people make apps. 🙂
i have tried a lot of social engines and so far jomsocial is the best for cheap and what I need. I do feel there missing the plot when it comes to buddypress plus wp and bp is very heavy on servers, u could try elgg (google it )
Hey bro I agree, the only reason I am thinking of changing to a new engine for my community is because BP has no albums and / or events.
I did however code both BP-NextGen and Activity Plus to interact with one another, BP-NextGen creates an album for each member based on there username and then anything uploaded via activity plus plugin will be stored in there album.This isn’t ideal but worked well except the thumbnails for images couldn’t generate so had to do that now and again via the admin area, I also think NextGen Gal has little documentation for developers.
