I never used it but heard quite a few happy reports. It works like a super plugin for WordPress.
Sincerely I would go with third party forum software – forums are great for building community and just in case your forum will grow huge – it would be awful challenging to switch to more robust softwares.

Anyone ever tried to port Yahoo / YUI Editor to WordPress?
It’s just beautiful. I’d love to see this problem with WordPress rich editor corrupting HTML and pagebreaks to be gone for good.
