I suggest you can switch to Desktop based blog editors.
Qumana is a free desktop based editor and its pretty easy to publish posts without logging into wordpress.
Else you can try
writely – write content and publish to any blogs.
If you don’t have writely, try Zohowriter.
I had similar problem from the past 2 days. But I guess the problem is not related to number of posts.
Just now found out that http://pingomatic.com/ is not working. Since this is configured in Update Services (Options – > Writing), I used to get a blank page after publishing. I removed the http://rpc.pingomatic.com/ from the update service and now publishing is working fine.
