I did not fix the problem. I kinda gave up because everything I found online was not working for me. I tried to change in the script as many forums recommended, but I ended up crashing my site…

I have the same problem and it seems like there is no easy solution?
I am using the Fashionistas Theme and I have added the “At Social Icons” Widget to the header of the theme.
Do you know how I can have the social icons open in new tab/ new page?
I have read several posts saying that I need to make modifications in the Editor of the Header.php, but I cannot find anything about the social icons here.
I got a reply from WPyogi, Volunteer Moderator, to use the theme’s forum, http://wordpress.org/support/theme/fashionistas, but this is not very helpful.
