Also just noticed that my FTP is saying there are 1290 queued files :/ Doesn’t seem to be moving, either. Maybe it hasn’t loaded everything up yet.

OK. I renamed the child theme folder (added ‘new’ on the end).

Just downloaded a fresh copy of WP to my desktop and re-installed the ‘wp-admin’ folder, ‘wp-includes’ folder, and the 16 or so files outside these directories that were in the fresh download.

Did not touch ‘wp-content’ or anything in it.

Refreshed my page and now getting:

There doesn’t seem to be a wp-config.php file. I need this before we can get started.

Need more help? We got it.

You can create a wp-config.php file through a web interface, but this doesn’t work for all server setups. The safest way is to manually create the file.

    ??

Note: I noticed the file ‘.htaccess’ was originally in the list of files on my server, but wasn’t in the files from the fresh install. I saved a copy of it on my desktop before I deleted it. Maybe has something to do with that?

    1. Do I do this in FileZilla (just click on the folder and rename on the server-side of the software)?

    2. Is re-uploading done in the case that #1 doesn’t fix my problem? Or is this a two step solution?

Sorry if these are really dumb questions and thank you so much for your help!

Oh, and also, all content info is still in the page sections within the dashboard (thank God), and the page URLs (permalinks?) match those that are getting the error – no discrepancies there.

This is what I suspected, and what I’m having trouble with. Not sure why it’s giving a 404 as I’m pretty sure everything is back the way it was.

Actually, OOPS, it’s not actually a 404! This is exactly what I’m getting on the pages that aren’t coming up:

    “Not Found

The requested URL /index.php was not found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.”

No idea what that means I should do, other than change something with the index.php file in either the child theme folder or the parent folder….though I took index.php out of the child theme folder. It was exactly the same as the parent theme file, and taking it out made my home page work again so if I put it back I assume the site will totally break again…

    Very confused.

Thanks – I’ve seen this. Was thinking it might be safer to get back to where I was and have everything working in the subdomain ‘flouroflondon/wordpress’ (rather than have the site half working and half not) before trying to migrate the whole site to the new URL.

Or should I just try to migrate everything immediately and that should fix it all?
