In reply to: Front Page Displays Settings in 2.6.2The thing is, that I do have a page created. I’m not making this up. I can give anyone interested the log in info to verify that the page was created prior to this thread.
I had created the page first, then I went to set it as front page and viola – that option does not exist there. My other blog does have it, but that one has not been upgraded form 2.6 yet.
Once again, there is a page. The page is unpublished because I don’t want it listed in the menu. I just do not have an option to set is as front page in 2.6.2

In reply to: Front Page Displays Settings in 2.6.2Hello,
yet, this option is there on one of my blogs that still uses version 2.6, but I’ve installed version 2.6.2 on a new domain name and that option is not there at all.
Reading Settings page (v 2.6.2) has a grand total of 4 fields:
Blog pages show at most:
Syndication feeds show the most recent:
For each article in a feed, show:
Encoding for pages and feeds:That’s why I was wondering if there is a way to downgrade, aka download v 2.6 instead and reinstall.

In reply to: Blogger Import – Finds 0 Posts/CommentsHello Otto42,
yes, I’ve been using FTP Publishing mode, because the blog was on its own domain and I was hosting all the files (independent from Blogger.com entirely, aside from the back end used to make new posts and moderate comments, etc.)
Let me give this a try

In reply to: Share This question: alexking.org in the codeWell, thanks Ivovic for such exhaustive answer. I expected an anger filled response and you didn’t disappoint. Do they call you Mr. predictable at home? You truly deliver, man.
It’s funny you should say that people who have questions are beating a dead horse. It’s you who sets up a strawman argument based on misrepresentation of question to deliberately put a person asking in a position that is easy to mock. Ad mock you do with pleasure.
If this is all you can do, if you can’t provide reasonable answer (obviously you can’t – look at your response to question #1) then why don’t you just back off and allow people who are not so self absorbed to answer instead. I’m not here asking questions because I want to kill some time. I’m asking because there is something that is puzzling me and I would really like to know the answer. If you have no decency to provide that answer, then please keep out.
BTW – you can’t even brownnose properly!

In reply to: Share This question: alexking.org in the codeI’m one of those who don’t dream in php. Can someone once again explain in a language that a regular person would understand (and without resorting to calling my question “nonsense”):
– what is the purpose of alexking.org links within the script?
– would the functionality of the script suffer if I removed all alexking.org references (or replaced them with let’s say ibangparishiltonwhenbritneyspearsisnotaround.com)?
Thanks…
600 seems to be working 🙂
thanks a lot guys…
Hi whooami,
thanks for your response. What should I set it to – 777?

In reply to: Major Glitch with AttachmentsI think that ticket pretty much has it covered as far as the broken attachment link goes. I don’t think I have anything to add to it. The thing is, though that it doesn’t offer any solution other than leaving out the %category% tag in the permalink settings. So what’s a guy supposed to do?

In reply to: Major Glitch with AttachmentsHandy,
I have not read any newsletters. I custom build my own sites to match SEO crireria as I see them.
themesbycal,
you’re totally correct. this is exactly what I’m talking about. Now imagine you are the first time user and you see all of these problems, absolutely nothing working… First thing that gets in your mind is – what’s next? Is this the most bug-stuffed script to ever exist? Where does it end? And subsequently – does it make any sense to even try to use it seeing that I will just spend my time trying to make it work but it never will…
Still curious – is this going to get fixed? Is there a way to stop the script from forcing its own edits upon mine? I could manually adjust my posts, but it’s all useless cause this darn script sets it back to non working ones… Any hacks to block that?

In reply to: First Time WP User – Nothing But Problems! Thanks for your help everyone – you were all wrong. Reinstalling was a waste of time as it doesn’t solve anything. There is a glitch in the script, that’s why it doesn’t work. You can read about it here

In reply to: First Time WP User – Nothing But Problems!I have redownloaded the script from wordpress.org, unzipped and uploaded all files to overwrite what I currently have on the server, except from wp-config.php file and wp-conten folder and, voils… No damn difference!
It does exactly the same thing as before – thumbnail + linke to page + Send to editor… gives me this:
<a href='http://www.beersteak.com/sports/nba/greg-oden-out-nba-season/greg-odenjpg/' rel='attachment wp-att-9' title='greg-oden.jpg'><img src='http://www.beersteak.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/09/greg-oden.thumbnail.jpg' alt='greg-oden.jpg' /></a>…am I wasting my time with this script? Is it ever gonna work? Should I just drop it and move on to something else?
