In reply to: Modifying CSS Categories to show ExcerptsThanks, lynchD57.
My issue wasn’t exactly what yours was (I don’t know what a “bootstrap” is), but it lead me to use some different keywords in my search in the forum. Woo-hoo! Now it works. Thanks so much!Forum: Themes and Templates
In reply to: Modifying CSS Categories to show Excerptsdid you intend the “done” post for me, luynchd57, or for esmi?

In reply to: Modifying CSS Categories to show ExcerptsHi esmi,
I am trying to fix my excerpts option in 3.4.2. I looked at all the above information, but don’t see which file in the c-panel this code is contained.
BTW, I got the RSS fixed! Thanks!Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: RSSI meant to tell you: the RSS icon I used had the following message: This icon may not be modified in any way. I imagine that just refers to the image itself, not to the url.

In reply to: RSSI was still recovering from my accident and just got back to checking email today. Thanks for your help. I hope you feel as good as you make me feel–having your assistance. I won’t get to this until tomorrow so I will let you know how it goes.

In reply to: RSSNo, I haven’t. I can look in my “Dummies” book to see if it tells me what to do. The book has been helpful for some things, not others.

In reply to: RSSThat’s fine. Do I log in as admin and add the icon there? Or can it be added w/o logging in?
Wow, you’re being super helpful. what a great asset you are!Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: RSSI didn’t see the RSS icon. I thought you needed that to have a feed, I hate to keep bothering you but where or how did you find the link?
In addition to being “green” (remember, “it’s not easy being green!”), I had an accident today & fractured my wrist and hit my head, So I am a little more clueless than usual!!!

In reply to: RSSdid you put it there? or was it already there? You can tell how “green” I am.

I didn’t realize that’s what you wanted.
Thanks for your patience with me.Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: RSSyes, please. For example, I just found a site that purports to tell one how to install an RSS feed. But when I started to watch the video, it was talking about bringing links to other sites to my blog–not bringing readers to my site.
I have a book on WordPress and it doesn’t do a good job of explaining how I set up an RSS to link to my site.Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: RSSThanks. I have been looking for good step-by-step descriptions of how to install an RSS link, but nothing seems to give me precise directions. Do you know where I can find such instructions?

In reply to: After installing wordpressI am a “seasoned” citizen who started a blog to help a not-for-profit organization. I have my website up. I put a tag on each of my posts (maybe I should put more than one tag). I want to optimize my site so search engines can find me easily. I have a book I am following, but it is really more information than I can chew on as a beginner.
I think I need to add trackback, right? And there is some sort of an “all-in-one” search engine optimizer plug-in I should add (there are others according to the book, but I guess I need only one.
I also want to enable readers to get notification of my new posts. How is that done? RSS?
Thanks for any help you can offer a grandmother!!!
