Did you manage to resolve this? I had the same issue with my WordPress installation and managed to get it resolved after countless lost hours. It turned out that my hosting company for my cPanel package, Web Hosting UK, needed to “release my domain from mod_security restriction”. Now that they have done this, I get the correct “Page updated” message every time I update a post or page.
I hope nobody else has to lose so many hours trying to fix this problem.
