    Will do – thanks!

    Forum: Fixing WordPress
    In reply to: Forgot Password

I downloaded this script and uploaded it to the right directory on my site. I went to the page and I followed the directions, and when I enter the correct administrator username in the ENTER USERNAME field (the only field on the page) it comes back saying “!password field is empty”. But there is no password field. I thought maybe it was my browser (Firefox) so I checked it in Safari and there is also only the ENTER USERNAME field as well, but that one doesn’t allow you to even type anything there. I tried other usernames that I knew were incorrect, and I got a prompt that it was incorrect (in addition to the original prompt). I also checked my email repeatedly and nothing is there. I am the site administrator.

    Thanks!
    TF

Ahhh… after tinkering around, I fixed it! I just had to go in the dashboard to General Options, and change my Blog Address (URl) from http://www.markallencam.com/index.php to just http://www.markallencam.com. Now all those links work!

OK fazi – tried it and didn’t work but I think I may have done it wrong. There is no “uploads” directory in the “wp-content” directory – so I created a file called “uploads” and put the line “chmod 777” in it and uploaded it into the “wp-content” directory. I also tried it a second time, but titled the file “uploads.php” instead of just “uploads.”

I’m pretty green at this so this is probably a “duh…” question, but did you mean for me to create a FOLDER called uploads (a directory) and put a file in in called “chmod 777” and put it in the wp-content directory.

    A little confused…

    Thanks,
    Mark

That worked!!!!!!! It was deleating the old default.htm file that I think was key, as well as the cache emptying… thanks so much Whooami and Sam…

Hmmm… just tried it. Did not work. Any other suggestions (or questions about my situation?)

Yosemite – I just reread your response and realize you may be telling me that THOSE are my password/userid. Yes I can – just log onto the control panel.

The database mysql or phpadmin database on my server has already been set up, by the server people. I also have “no privilages” on the set up page.

I just need to know WHERE FROM and WHAT my mysql username and mysql password are so I can enter them correctly on the wp-config.php document. They gave me two but they don’t seem to work. I have tried several different combinations of OTHER passwords and usernames (like to log onto my MyAdmin page to access my mysql and phpmyadmin control panels. But nothing seems to work.

    Samboll –

Yes, it is in there, and changed according to the instructions. I’ve double checked. There are also a lot of other things it is saying that almost look like raw html code. Could there be a character off or something in the code that’s causing this? Like when I unloaded the zip file maybe something went haywire?

    Thanks for your feedback.
