Aha! The documentation was a bit hard to decipher, but I’ve figured it out.

I had to enter the information under the category portion of wordpress as well.

Here’s a bit more info – from the indie-talks-podcast feed:

<itunes:image href=”http://trollitc.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/tcproductions.jpg” />

That’s not the image I have assigned to that podcast. It should be: http://trollitc.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/IT_LOGO_iDevice.jpg

I have that 2nd image set in the podpress feed/itunes setting as the Indie Talks podcast.

Brilliant Esmi! That did the trick. disabling the offending plugin brought my feeds back to life. If you don’t mind explaining – how did you find this?
