Okay, so i started following the instructions, to the letter, in order. Here’s what happened:
- just to see what would happen, and confirm the error, i clicked on “Connection available to all administrators, editors, and authors” and this time it worked
- published a new post, to confirm it still isn’t auto-sharing to Twitter (it still isn’t)
- Step 1: Disconnect Twitter from WP.com Sharing settings
Result: error message:The Twitter account was unable to be disconnected.
Also noticed that Jetpack has come unglued again from my WP install. I’ve already tried deactivating and deleting, then starting with a fresh installation.

In reply to: [Jetpack - WP Security, Backup, Speed, & Growth] Add New Social IconsOh, i was under the impression that’s what they were. In that case, can any more icons be added somehow?

In reply to: [Twenty Seventeen] header image sizing and positioningI managed to get the front page looking how i want it, but interior pages are still wonky.
I’m also trying to make the featured image background transparent, but it seems to be inheriting #222 (or #262626?) from someplace. Nothing i’ve tried has worked. Can anybody help with these issues?
Pardon my amateur attempt at sleuthing this out. I’m actually quite new to using this theme, personally. However, it looks like it’s coming from
inc/template_tags.php– starting around line 19.Hope this helps.

In reply to: [Twenty Seventeen] Changing font of h2 widget-titleI’m on Firefox, and it looks like Baskerville is being displayed just fine for me. Did you fix it?

In reply to: [Twenty Seventeen] Creating a child theme and settingsI had thought that it did, but upon further research, it appears some things may not be retained? So make a backup before switching. I do know that when i switched my theme recently (which is a little touch and go as i’m actively trying to scrudge it into shape atm), else i’d test it for you right now myself), my menu and widgets seemed to be retained, but that apparently may not be the case. I was switching from a previous default theme to twenty seventeen, so that may have made it easier or something. But when i tried to live preview the old theme just now, it was definitely not as it was.
So yeah – take a backup first.
So sorry i couldn’t be of more help. It’s shamefully been thousands of years since i’ve touched my own WordPress and i’m only just now getting back into things.

In reply to: [Twenty Seventeen] Creating a child theme and settingsIIRC, i think menus and widgets will remain, but things like header & logo graphics will need to be reset. It’s really not terribly painful, and of course you can also switch back and forth if needed.

In reply to: [Twenty Seventeen] header image sizing and positioningI seem to be having weird cache issues, so my changes (over 24 hours now!) aren’t showing up unless i’m logged in. No idea if you can see the site as it should actually be, so here’s a link to a screen rec to show what i’m talking about.

In reply to: Using image title & descriptionYes, but see the example above. Instead of caption, i want to use the description, and i want to use the image name or title as an actual title above the image, like so:
Dog Humping a Tuba Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet. ------------------ Velit dictumst facilisis risus phasellus porta. | | Vel. Placerat et parturient etiam. | | Sit dapibus, egestas penatibus, aliquam. | | Sed, tortor magna, cursus. Integer. | | Urna. Parturient ut et sociis. | | Sagittis eu eu nec montes. | | Adipiscing nec placerat placerat porttitor. ------------------ Vel? Nunc, phasellus adipiscing eu. This one time at Enim in parturient mid augue. band camp.... Sed, montes aliquet ridiculus diam. Placerat? Augue, ac proin. Nec. Porta, magna cum, placerat montes cras elementum natoque egestas. Sagittis diam augue ac odio dolor, et proin. Nunc ridiculus egestas aliquet vel, tristique amet lacus. Pellentesque porta duis in! Magna, ac integer! Montes. Ut est nisi facilisis habitasse arcu vel! Amet.Or, alternately, to display a gallery of images which include an image name and description, rather than no name and a caption.
The reason for this is that i’d like to reserve the caption as a shorter description of the image, and have a different page template using a longer description instead, and i’d like to pull the image name or title to use above the image to name it.
Does that make more sense?

In reply to: Using image title & descriptionOh, see that’s what i mean. How do i present a post with pictures as it would normally be, except with the extra image information? In other words, how do i put the images where they are supposed to be in the context of the post?
_title_ | | lorem ipsum blah blah blah | | a bunch of text ------- quite a long story here descrip This is another paragraph _title_ with more words in it | | about stuff and things | | like a normal post w/ --------- images embedded. descripForum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Using image title & descriptionI got the feeling that that displays all the attachments at once. It doesn’t? They’re just inserted in the post content as normal?
You’ll have to pardon me, i’ve gotten awfully rusty with PHP over the last few years. Stupid WordPress and its plugins do everything for me and i practically never have to code anything anymore 😛
