In reply to: Beginners Guide to RSSi’ve somehow realised that there are already 3 feeds aside from the xml thing i set up, so i deleted the xml and am going with the existing 2.0 feed. it seems that wordpress automatically update this feed so i dont have to maintain anything in the future?

In reply to: Beginners Guide to RSSI didn’t see your reply before going ahead and creating a feed.xml page using some advice on a random website I found.
I’d be greatful if you could check out my http://www.rapnews.co.uk site and see the rss button and see how it works.
In my understanding, now i have the feed.xml page I can get my blog listed on various directories etc, as well as having other sites syndicate my feed?
All new to this as you can tell!

In reply to: Opinions Pleasemany thanks for your compliment. everything seems to work now, apart from when you use the links in the ‘posted by…in category x’ block below posts and post blurbs. it effects the permalinks of the sidebar. haven’t a clue how to fix that

In reply to: Extracting my blog’s comments featureThanks very much. It was in my theme’s index.php I’ve successfully deleted the ‘number of posts’ and ‘no commnts’ thing from the front page.
Do you think I would be best to leave the option for visitors to make comments inside the posts?
My main concern was the small number stated on the front page, which looked like my site was dead.
Thanks for all the tips.

In reply to: Extracting my blog’s comments featureThanks for the reply. I’m quite inexperienced in terms of deleting things and editing files.
I’m guessing I would find the ‘1 comment’ or ‘no comments’ code within the index.php
Could you suggest where I might find the code for the post template?

In reply to: Permalink QueryThanks a lot for your help. It’s all sorted at http://www.rapnews.co.uk apart from one quite big problem.
When you click for example, the ‘Alex Blood’ link on my main page, all the links in the sidebar are altered to be within the alexblood/ address, but they aren’t there and an error message appears…and ideas guys?
That’s in reference to combining the category/post name tag as opposed to the post name tag, which works correctly
Forum: Plugins
In reply to: Newsletter pluginI’d basically like to see something incorporated into wordpress which acts like the many free newsletter services, where by any visitors of my site can simply enter their email into a simple form and get their address added to a mailing list, which i can then send out mass messages out to. i’d like this to be seperate from the profiles/user features of the website.

In reply to: Permalink QueryThanks guys. I was wondering if anyone could tell me the structure tag so that all the post addresses are named after the post title, and what I actually have to do to the htaccess file to make the changes function correctly.
thanks again.

In reply to: Very irritating formatting troublei use firefox and internet explorer. both the most recent versions.
an example of my issue is as follows:
IN IE the post ‘smokey road zombie competition’ shows a bad text wrap around the bottom margin of the image. there’s a gap the height of a typical line. AS OPPOSED to the post ‘Example’ where the next wraps tightly without any ugly gaps.
IN FIREFOX the same situation as IE’s ‘smokey zombie’ presentation is present in every post using an image and with text wrapping.
