In reply to: [AmazonPress] This plugin AmazonPress is a scam be careful peopleI hope that you read the README file a bit more carefully about AmazonPress.
“AmazonPress” in wordpress repository is a fork of AmazonFeed by Warkior – http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/amazonfeed/.
Mine is at http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/amazonpress/
All credits have been kept to point this out as that is what the GPL states. However there was someone who ripped of Warkiors AmazonFeed, they even set up a domain called amazonfeed, com and removed Warkiors copyrights and disabled the “Tip” function for users, and claimed they were the creators.
So I put a fork in the eye of the people who “stole it”, by claiming the “AmazonFeed” plugin name in the repository.
Therefore they were forced to use a different name in the repository, called “./amazon-press/” – “AmazonPress WordPress Plugin”.As for improvement – I have added extra countries to be used in the admin.
Therefore I call it a fork. Since I have re-made the plugin from the original one. I see not harm in adding my affiliate code, specially when the user do have the option to disable it in the backend.Hope this clarifies things a bit of who is stealing or who is doing something dishonest. Maybe stealing from thieves is as bad?
But on the other hand I never stole their code, I improved the original code, and AmazonPress is hardly a copyrighted name they have claim on.I hope to get a few hours free and I will see if I can add a few more countries where Amazon has expanded, since my pervious fork, I believe the missing countries are Italy and China.
Cheers.
