Hi Steve, thanks again for your help, to wrap up.
No reply from Pareto Securtiy support.
My hosting company (Vidahost) on the otherhand, found that Pareto Secuirty plugin had added bans for a number of IPs to the .htaccess file, which they commented, and disabled the plugin. It has now been deleted.

Hi Steve
Thank you for your reply. I have changed the name of pareto security directory – vai FTP – but this has made no differnce, I still cannot access my site or my admin area; they are still 403 Forbidden by the server.
I have started the topic on the link you sent.
