Hi Cais, as for the two album pages missing visualization (the “not a valid template” issue), for now I solved by replacing the non-working code (ie the usual code previously obtained with the green button) with an old type shortcode created manually, more simple and with a direct call to the album ID:
[ngg_images album_ids=”2″ display_type=”photocrati-nextgen_basic_compact_album” gallery_display_type=”photocrati-nextgen_basic_thumbnails” thumbnail_width=”217″ thumbnail_height=”144″ override_thumbnail_settings=”1″ thumbnail_crop=”1″]
So I’m going to open a bug report just for the “Attach NextGen Gallery to Post” button not opening the plugin options but a “page not found”, as if it was an URL problem (but I did not change the URLs).
Thanks

In Yoast content analysis (in this case, in the post/page editor), among others there is a check to see whether at least one image has an alt tag that contains the focus keyword for the post.
In fact, one single image with the tag is enough to have a “green” (positive) result. In the legacy code like this… < img class=”ngg_displayed_gallery mceItem” src=”…” alt=”” data-mce-placeholder=”1″ > an empty alt tag is present and readable by Yoast, so I have always entered a keyword.
In the visual shortcode the alt tag is missing, but Yoast wouldn’t detect it anyway because the plugin doesn’t read that shortcode itself.

Good to hear that you are aware of, because the issue has affected images indexing.
A side note: with the visual shortcode there is also a negative SEO score – “the images on this page do not have alt attributes containing your focus keyword” (add the tag manually into the shortcode doesn’t work). The alt tag was legible in the old code.
Thanks for your time Cais.

In reply to: [AccessPress Lite] Black background when loadingHi, sorry for the late, I haven’t received the email in response (or it has ended in spam).
After several tests I think it wasn’t a problem of the theme, or at least I’m not sure it was the theme.
Now it seems fixed by changing the site background from an image to a color (through custom background in the backend).
I still haven’t understood why appeared a black background while waiting to load the background image (the image wasn’t “heavy”), but anyway now seems fixed with the elimination of that background.
(Maybe it was because I loaded via CSS that same image also on the menu to have a transparent effect on the current item.)
Thanks for the interest.P.S.: anyway the site is the one in my username.

I know that that note makes no harm, but I don’t understand why it’s not fixed since just a simple replacement of get_currentuserinfo() with wp_get_current_user() is needed.Forum: Plugins
In reply to: [W3 Total Cache] Cache yielding soft 404 pages@destac – I always had that option enabled. Sorry, I don’t understand if you’re telling me to disable it now.
I haven’t read anywhere that disabling that option solves the problem of soft 404s, so I want to be sure to understand. However the problem is not 404 errors, those are fine because they refer to non-existent pages and a custom 404 page is properly returned.
The problem is the soft 404 errors, they are all related to pages that do really exist and that properly returns a 200 response code, but they are served with blank pages for logged-out users, because of the plugin.Forum: Plugins
In reply to: [W3 Total Cache] Cache yielding soft 404 pages@destac – I have never chosen that action (“cache 404” in page cache settings, if this is what you mean), it has never been active.
Also permalinks are not the problem. I have refreshed them several times since there is this problem, even if for other reasons (because of the Yoast SEO plugin, above all).
It’s a cache problem. The links I’ve posted explain the issue enough well.
Thanks anyway for your interest, I really appreciate it.Forum: Plugins
In reply to: [W3 Total Cache] Cache yielding soft 404 pagesThe problem still exists and will always do if it’s not fixed.
Google is penalizing me without reasons, it’s frustrating.
I can’t believe that no one else here has reported the same issue, and that there is no solution. Here there is a patch, but it’s for another cache plugin.
