Thank you, it worked.
As for the number your plugin shows, I believe it does count also comments and those are usually within Facebook, not outside, right?
For example another post from yesterday: http://www.islamonline.sk/2016/08/islam-u-nas-existoval-uz-v-stredovekom-uhorsku/
Shared count gives the same total number of shares as your plugin: http://www.sharedcount.com/#url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.islamonline.sk%2F2016%2F08%2Fislam-u-nas-existoval-uz-v-stredovekom-uhorsku%2F, incl. 21 comments. There is however only one comment on my site, so other 20 commnets must be from within Facebook somewhere where it someone shared.
FB post for reference: https://www.facebook.com/IslamOnline.sk/posts/10154382494792629
Values from the facebook link you gave: share_count”:5,”like_count”:2,”comment_count”:0,”total_count”:7,”click_count”:0
FB post for refference: https://www.facebook.com/IslamOnline.sk/posts/10154362478832629
My experience is same as gmessage’s. All my previous posts from before a few days ago did count all shares/likes/comments from all FB pages and showed the total number. That was the whole point of the plugin β telling the readers how viral the article actually is overall. Recently all pages that are doing this calculation (such as http://www.sharedcount.com/) seem to be getting wrong numbers.
SharedCount is now shutting down due to some kind of change in FB API: http://www.sharedcount.com/notes/facebook_api_shutdown.php. Could it be that the issue we are experiencing with your plugin is due to the same API change? It its also pretty much matching the time when the problem started to appear.
*its doing it even with all plugins disabled except yours.
In that particular use case PictureFill is making picture disappear even with all plugins disabled except those recommended by theme author (witch includes yours). Retina.js works there.
I noticed another issue. Even when I don’t get fatal error on homescreen, The picture is being dropped in some usecases, namely when I use full-width cover picture, such as here: http://www.islamonline.sk/2015/10/5-rocny-azyl-svedskeho-krala-v-osmanskej-risi/
Well now its getting really weird. I noticed the problem again even with Yoast SEO plugin disabled. I even disabled all plugins except yours and it still didn’t show some images, just a white rectangle instead. This perhaps means that there is something in cache that is remaining active and still causes the trouble?
So I activated everything back on and looked for the option you mentioned and found “force to rewrite titles” in the first screen of titles and meta data section of Yoast SEO. To my surprise this setting was already disabled. By enabling it however the missing pictures came back! Than when I disabled it again the affected pictures went away again.
That should be okay.
Sorry, do you mean that the plugin should be okay to use or that it should be okey for me to stay without it? π
Yoast SEO has an option called Rewrite Titles
From what I could found that is a way Yoast SEO works and I can’t really disable it, right? So I have to stay without it or you have any ways to make it work? Actually right now I enabled it and its ok, although maybe the problem returns with increase in traffic, who knows…
I disabled all plugins and than started to enable then one by one. I can down to three plugins, when ever I enable any one of them, I get the error with Picturefill. Moreover, when they are disabled, even retina.js is working well without dropped thumbnails.
The problematic plugins are:
– Slim Jetpack (don’t remember why I used it, I believe you used to recommend it somewhere in documentation?)
– W3 Total Cache (site it a little slower without it, but nothing dramatic)
– Yoast SEO (this one is important as I use to set different headline for site, Google and Facebook)I will play further with the plugins and their settings and will report if my findings. Should you have any idea what might be the case, I will be happy to read it.
To me, it appears in Safari and Firefox, but not in Chrome.
