Ok, I have tested your proposed solution.
The results:
The notification is sent out to me, to moderate the comment.
The notification to the post-author is not sent. Not when the comment is posted but not yet approved, nor when the comment is approved.I have also tested the following:
1. I disabled approving comments, so comments were immediately visible on the site
2. I posted a comment
3. The notification went out to the author of the postIt seems that the ‘approving’ of comments has something to do with not sending out the notification.n
This is the wrong trigger, because then the author will receive a message but we may not have approved the comment yet. We moderate every morning.
In other words;
Author will receive an email with the message: ‘there is a new comment on your post’, but the comment may not be visible yet.The goal is for the author to get the email to check out the new comment on his/her post, after we approved said comment.
My plugin is in Dutch, I tried setting WP to English but the plugin remained in Dutch, so bear with me.
I have 2 notifications enabled:
‘Verhaal nieuwe reactie toevoegen’ & ‘Gedicht nieuwe reactie toevoegen’‘Verhaal’ & ‘Gedicht’ are custom post types.
‘nieuwe reactie toevoegen’ translates to ‘new comment added’
