Thanks, it helps to know I am not totally losing it. How do I find the other admin panels besides just the Dashboard. I can’t seem to find anything that is being discussed in the “instructions” pages. Nothing seems the same. I just downloaded WP and installed it today and already its outdated. I am reluctant to update because of the problems encountered installing it today. I would like to find some of the other admin panels but am at a loss.

Well, fiddlesticks. This isn’t working. I have never used templates before and have no clue on what I am doing even after reading as much as I can. Sorry folks, I am having a hard time seeing any possibilities with this WordPress thing…..I just want to see how the CMS part works and am not really interested in the blogging part at this time. That part seems pretty straightforward. oh, well….

Awesome, thanks. It looks like WordPress didn’t like the dash utf-8. We switched it to utf8 and all is right with the world again. Thanks for the feedback on the CMS stuff….now all I need to do is learn how to use it.

    Thank you!

I am not going to install this on my website. I want to have it so that I can teach myself how to “design” for a client who is under the impression they can use WordPress as a CMS and not a blog. I am trying to find out if that is even possible and if so, how I can do it for them and teach them how…..I need to figure it out so that I can either advise using it or not. but I sill would like to know how to use it and install, but…well….its not going to so well for me…thanks for anything you can help me with.

I installed in on my server localhost on the root directory. Once clicked on install through the myadmin.php it took me to the WordPress WordPress site and requested that I type in the Blog, which I did, then it asked for my email address. then I clicked on INSTALL. when I did, it said it was successful, and asked me to login. when I clicked on the login button it took me back to Blog: Myblog and email: myemail@yada.com then installed it again. the other thing is that though it said it was a successful install, it had pages and pages of scrolling errors. so I am thinking it isn’t really installed. I was pretty sure it installed on my db on my server. I changed all the info in the wp.config.php and the authentication strings….I am now on hour 9 of the 5 minute install….somebody somewhere can’t tell the difference between hours and minutes, methinks….this is really frustrating.
    thanks for any help
