Thank you for your help. I have followed these steps but I unfortunately still get the comment # and date on the Home page, when using the Ice Cap theme.
I have consequently changed themes (twenty eleven) and no longer have the “blog issue”.
Perhaps it is relevant to the type of theme?
Thanks again for all your help. Changing themes just seems easiest after so many hours of frustration 🙂

I would like to remove the ability to display posts and for people to comment. In a nutshell, I would like it to be website and not at all a blog, if that makes sense.
