I am also having this problem. Everything works fine with Yoast SEO deactivated.
It’s notable to mention that on a separate site I have not upgraded from 1.5.5 to 1.5.5.3 and I’m not experiencing any problems. So, whatever got fixed in the latest update broke something else.
