Thanks for responding. When you say the display is not being generated, you mean that you think another plug-in is clashing with NextGen and causing the images to display as the carousel? I only have a handful of plug-ins active, a Tiny MCE which wasn’t causing the issue, All in One SEO, Exclude from Navigation, Google XML Sitemaps, and a social media Share plug-in.
Updated to WP 3.6.1 and the latest version of NextGen. Still doing it.
FYI this is the type of carousel I’m referring to, not the one you’d expect from the plug-in:
