Yeah, thats what I did to get them working originally, thanks.

    Sorted!

    Its in search.php.

I could be good at this eventually!

    Yes, sorry.

I had a problem with links to websites in posts into the categories.

I’ve now sorted that by changing an entry in the archive.php file.

On the way I got tangled up in Permalinks and at one point thought I’d lost the lot.

But persistence pays off and I’m nearly there.

    BUT

If I have a post in a category, and the post includes the word zinc, and the html link refers to a zinc plater all is fine when reading the post – you can click the link and go to their website.

If I then search for zinc it brings up the post, but the html link is not highlighted and not active.

Weirdness or a configuration change needed.

    Thanks

    OK

    The penny has dropped.

I expected the border to be a separate element, not a slice across.

Now I’m sure I can change the border colour.

@oriecat and tauquil – check back soon to see how much you have helped and how right you both are.

    Thanks again.

@tauquil the file kubrickbg.jpg is the background colour to the main text area, not the borders, and people may have answered, but the answers would appear to be incorrect. The image files are edited with The Gimp on FC4. I will try K2, thanks.

@oriecat, thanks for your friendly words, I’m sure I’ll be back. Bugs me though that I cant sort this out, I dont give up easily.

    Thanks for the comments.

Refreshing the cache is not the issue.

I think that the Photoshop .psd is more relevant to the theme on earlier versions of WordPress than the current one I have.

I’m amazed that its so difficult to change the default style – dont people use them? or are the gurus not here?

I’m off to find a theme that I can work with.

I may be a WordPress newbie, but I’m certainly not a computer or linux newbie – its like going back in time trying to connect to the internet by editing text files in early versions of Redhat.

    Thanks again

I did explain my double posting.

I also explained that I had tried every combination of jpgs in the images folder, and not one of them affected what I want to do.

Is anyone able to explain explicitly which image and which reference, or is everyone using the default theme tied to the same layout.

Maybe its easier with Frontpage after all.

    TIA

    Thanks all.

I’ve changed every image, and it does not change what I want.

Therefore either the image I need does not exist, or one that I have changed has not been referenced.

I wont give up on this, so any more tips please

    TIA

    Tony
