So after long testing and trying it turned out, that the page setups were totally confused for some reason. Fortunately, I managed to sort them out, so I mark this thread as solved.
If somebody has a similar issue, check these things:
1) which page has the [show_product_catalog] shortcode?
2) does that page has the default template settings?
