  • @mrsztuczkens – That hasn’t worked for me. I’ve even disabled W3 Total Cache in the attempt to get the settings screen back. Not sure what else to do.

Yes, I’m having the same issue too. I noticed this happened to me around 2 weeks ago after updating to the latest version. I had a custom Pin It button on my site which changed back to default upon updating. I didn’t think much about it at the time, but today I went into the dashboard to try and add the custom button back and it’s completely blank.

I’ve tried deactivating/reactivating, and deactivating > deleting > reinstalling with no success.

I’m hoping the developer sees this and can fix the issue.

    Thanks!

Great! Looks like I inadvertently fixed it! 🙂 I guess the problem was with my functions.php file all along. I tried tinkering with it but no matter what I did, it didn’t work. Then I remembered that one of my plugins does automatic backups. So I grabbed the backup functions.php file coding, duplicated the current functions.php file (just in case), then overwrote it with the backup code.

As for the feed, it’s working my end now too. My guess was that, for some reason, the error was caching there despite using different uncached browsers to check it. I guess that was probably a network/DNS problem which has resolved itself as it populated – phew.

Thank goodness for backups, eh? Thanks so much for your time and bearing with me, James.

    Have a fantastic Christmas!

Sure. I’ve disabled the redirect. The feed can be found here: http://www.sweet2eatbaking.com/feed/

Thanks again for all your help. I really appreciate it.

Thanks Esmi and James. I’ve been tinkering around and managed to somehow sort of fix this. I have no idea what I’ve done, but now there’s no php error when I view my site and I am able to access my admin dashboard again.

However, that being said, my RSS feed is still broken. Everytime I access my RSS feed (http://feeds.feedburner.com/sweet2eatbaking) I’m getting the following error from my functions.php file…

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected 'Gravatar' (T_STRING) in /home2/sweettw2/public_html/wp-content/themes/sweet2eatbaking/functions.php on line 217

I’m thinking it might be the Gravatar coding inside the functions, but line 217 is not the coding for the gravatar.

Any ideas at all? This time of the year is the best time for traffic for me and because of the errors, no-one is getting notified of my new posts and I can’t fix this myself.

    Thanks again.

Thanks James. Disabling the plugins didn’t do anything. However, renaming the theme allowed me to re-gain access to my admin dashboard, but didn’t force the default theme – it still says my current theme is active but when viewing my site no CSS styles, etc. show.

So it looks like my theme may be the cause of the errors. I have no experience with PHP and would still like to use the theme as it is custom to my site. Do you have any idea how I can continue to use the same theme and correct these errors at all?

    Thanks again.

I’m back and the problem is now resolved.

The culprit was my hosting. Changed hosting to Bluehost and issues are now fully resolved.

OK, replaced all the files again. Still no luck. A post has already missed schedule, and testing ping backs/trackbacks still fails.

As stated before, I think there might be an issue with the database. Does anyone have anymore suggestions for me to try? Thanks in advance.

Up to now I have tried:

    – deactivating all plugins,
    – switching themes. I’ve changed theme after this post anyway, but went ahead and used the Twenty Fourteen to see if it would fix it anyway,
    – Resetting the plugin folder via FTP.

All of the above haven’t fixed the issue sadly. I’m now about to install a fresh copy of the WordPress files (except wp-content, etc.). I hope this fixes the issue, but it didn’t before.

I’ll report back after I upload the files.

Esmi, I don’t mind other peeps coming in this thread to stating they’re having the same issue. This way, if the plugin developers see this, they will know that it’s not just my site having the issue, and therefore means it must be a plugin problem that needs an update to work again.

I hope this plugin gets fixed soon as I prefer it over the Jetpack Twitter plugin or using Twitter’s HTML coding. I prefer the way this plugin displays the tweets over the others.

    Keeping my fingers crossed.

It’s not just you, there’s been 2 others that have posted the same problem in this thread. Yet their comments are being deleted for some reason – I get email notifications.

Yeah, same on my site too – very frustrating. Twitter feeds are basic, and I don’t know why this is so hard to get right. Allow the regular Twitter widget to work, and the plugin is not needed at all. Just starting with Genesis and hoping the rest of setup goes better than this.

Thanks so much for responding, Jeremy.

That worked beautifully, thank you. However, since I already had a file renamed to avatar.png which I renamed back to gravatar, it’s cached that already before I had a chance to resize it to 90px or above (90px is my blogs gravatar size).

I tried doing as you stated and uploaded the file size to 100px to ensure no blurring when enlarged and renamed my functions.php to prevent the caching, but that doesn’t work strangely, and still shows the new version of the cached gravatar which is 48px in size and enlarged to 90px as per my theme.

I hate to ask, but would it be possible to clear the cache once again so it shows the correct dimensions this time? I won’t bother you again after that.

Thanks for your help. I really appreciate it.

Thanks Lester, that fixed it. Silly me.

Also, just a quick question, but on the print page it states the post date, post author, categories and X comments. I like the date, post author and categories, but is there any way of hiding the ’14 comments’ on the print pages? It still links to the comments which doesn’t work as they’re not printed.

    Here’s my example: http://www.sweet2eatbaking.com/chocolate-chip-cookie-dough-frozen-yogurt-fro-yo-recipe/print/

I hid the print buttons by using CSS but I’m not sure which class I can hide the comments from without hiding the post date, post author and categories.

    Thanks again for your help.

Anyone? I’m completely at a loss to why this is happening as I’ve tried the following:

    • deactivating Jetpack completely – no joy.
    • deactivating all plugins – no joy.
    • removing the code from the functions.php file – not joy, custom gravatar still shows.
    • removing that gravatar from gravatar.com – no joy.

When Jetpack is active, I only have the following modules active (the rest are deactivated):
    – Enhanced distribution,
    – Extra sidebar widgets,
    – Monitor,
    – Notifications,
    – Publicize,
    – Sharing,
    – Subscriptions,
    – WP stats.

As stated before, the URL to the custom gravatar shows a wp.com photon address. Photon is deactivated and has been for just over a year.

Also tried resetting my browsers cookies, cache and history with no joy. I just can’t understand why this is happening.

If anyone can help at all, I’d really appreciate it. Thank you.
