wait – sorry – I should have double checked something else – apparently the wp-admin/install.php was missing or not uploaded correctly (I went back to the original files that I unzipped for this second upload and used them instead of the copied files from my website folder)….thanks again for your help!

Thanks for your insight – but – I’ve reloaded the wp-admin/includes/upgrade.php twice now just to make sure it was not mia – and still generate the same message….any other ideas?
